Selecting the right adhesive for your application.

Use these 7-step guide to help you select an adhesive.
Peel away the guesswork and find your way to the adhesive that meets your specific needs.

01. DOES THE LABEL NEED TO BE PERMANENT OR REMOVABLE?

PERMANENT: Label cannot be removed from the substrate without damaging it or the substrate.

REMOVABLE: Label can be removed from the substrate without damaging it or the substrate.

02. WHAT IS THE TYPE OF SUSTAINABLE USED?

High surface energy materials have better wet out than low surface energy materials. A low energy surface substrate requires a more aggressive adhesive.

03. IS THE APPLICATION SURFACE CLEAN OR CONTAMINATED?

Moist, frosty, greasy, dusty or dirty surfaces demand adhesives with higher adhesion and better flow-ability.

04. WHAT IS THE TEXTURE OF THE SUBSTRATE?

A rough surface may require a stronger bonding adhesive to achieve acceptable adhesion.

05. WHAT IS THE SHAPE OF THE SUBSTRATE SURFACE?

Curved surfaces containers with less than 1 inch in diameter require a highly aggressive adhesive.

06. WHAT IS THE TEMPERATURE CONDITION WHERE THE LABEL IS APPLIED TO?

Depending on the type of adhesive, different adhesives will have different affinity to apply at specific temperatures.

07. WHAT ARE THE EXPOSURE CONDITIONS?

Different adhesives will have different affinity to the environmental exposure condition. Common conditions include outdoors, chemicals and abrasion.
